"Hit the little guy on March 6" is the direct translation of 驚蟄打小人, a Chinese ritual practiced since the Tang Dynasty. 驚蟄 is around March 6. This day is the "wakening of the pests". They wake up from hibernation and crawl out to harm farm produce. 打小人 or "hit the little guy" is the ritual to exterminate them. Included as pests are "little guys", little not in terms of physical size, but in terms of character, that is someone you despise, typically your boss or your lovers other lover.
